Today, i’m researching accessories for Jackie (named changed to protect identity). She’s got the word Bold in her style statement which we will express in her jewelry and accessories collection. She has has warm coloring and she is tall, so she can carry off striking large pieces very well. She can wear cool colors away from her face in bags and shoes as long as it complements the rest of her outfit. Jackie also works in the communications field, so its important her clothing and accessories also communicate who she is and how she is. Here are a few of my recommendations for her.
July is all about Independence. Freedom in the ability to be who you want to be and express it in a way that feels right and makes sense to you. We take our freedom for granted when we get sucked into what others think of us. Freedom of thought, ideas and convictions are not luxuries that folks in other countries get to enjoy. Revel in expressing your own signature style. When you are free to be who you are in the most respectful way possible…you salute those and say Thank You to…those who wrote and signed The Declaration of Independence for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness and the slaves who dies that we may ALL BE FREE.
This month of July here is what to focus on.
Prefall lines are in stores. It’s a good time to buy basics and classics

You have a style profile that will guide you in making the best decisions so you are current, modern, fresh and always up to date. Don’t allow your style to fall into a rut. It’s the antithesis of looking like an old lady. Review the trends so you can stay fresh and current and always one step ahead of your competition.
What is your excuse for not maximizing your fullest potential? We don’t see what we have, we see what we don’t have. Its such a shame in attitude when people are being grateful for what they do have, and it’s less than yours. I’m inspiried by this man.
After 23 years in the United States, i got a chance last month to visit my home country of Nigeria. After 16 hours of being on a plane, with a 5 hour layover in Frankfurt, Germany, i arrived in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. I was home and home was beautiful. I noticed that things had not changed much since i left Nigeria at the age of 8, yet there were new developments. Women still carried and sold on their heads bowls of fruits and vegetables on the side of the road, while carrying their young one’s on their back, driving was crazy and scared me out of my mind, and Nigerians were still boisterous as ever. At the same time, highways, apartment buildings and communities were modern and new. It was organized chaos, yet i felt a calm and peace, and a sense of certainty in the midst of it all.
Many asked…why had it taken you so long to go back to Nigeria? Why had you not been before? Well i always told myself, that i did not want to go back to Nigeria unless i specifically knew how i wanted to contribute. I did not want to go back until i was clear on how i could use my unique gifts and talents to make my fatherland a better place.
That opportunity had finally presented itself. I remember sitting in a bus at the age of 5 in Lagos, Nigeria. I looked out of the window and noticed a billboard advertising for women to use bleaching cream to lighten their skin. The cream being promoted at the time was called IKB. The billboard was pink and they showed a fairer-skinned women and stressed the benefits from using this cream…that life would be grand and she could finally get the guy. I…at my tender age asked, “Why would anyone want to do that?” “Why would anyone want to permanently alter their appearance?” Of course, at 5 years old…i had the questions. My dad told me I’d always been an inquisitive young lady. So my journey began as i looked for answers.
